Emilia Clarke to Star in ‘The Beauty Inside’ for Fox 2000, Temple Hill

The pitch from Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber is based on a South Korean film that was an adaptation of a web series from Drake Doremus.

Fox 2000 and Temple Hill have landed a hot pitch from The Fault in Our Stars screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke attached to star.

The pitch, which hit the town Wednesday, caught the interest of several studios and producers. It’s an adaptation of the 2015 South Korean film The Beauty Inside — which was itself an adaptation of an innovative 2012 web series by Drake Doremus.

The pitch’s path begins back in 2012 when Doremus directed a social film developed by Intel and Toshiba. Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Topher Grace, the film had six episodes that included interactive storytelling that gave the audience a chance to be a part of the film. It became a cult hit, and won a daytime Emmy for Outstanding New Approach to an Original Daytime Program or Series.

The story centered on a man who wakes up every day in a different body — and the woman who loved him no matter what he looked like on the outside.

The 2015 South Korean Film, directed by Baik, brought this story to the big screen and starred Kim Sang-ho, Kim Min-jae, Jo Dal-hwan.

In Fox 2000’s version, Clarke will play the woman who falls for the man with the body-switching disorder. Several actors will be cast to play the male lead.

Along with Fox 2000 and Temple Hill, Rumble Entertainment’s Greg Chou is producing (the company holds the remake rights). Doris Pfardrescher is executive producing.

Clarke’s star has been quickly rising since she began starring as Daenerys on HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones. She’s recently been cast in the Star Wars Han Solo film with Alden Ehrenreich. She was most recently seen in romance Me Before You and actioner Terminator Genisys. She’s repped by CAA and Emptage Hallett in the U.K. [Source]

Emilia Clarke joins ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo spinoff

Westeros and a galaxy far, far away are colliding! “Game of Thrones” breakout Emilia Clarke is joining the “Star Wars” Han Solo spinoff.

Clarke will star opposite Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover, who play Solo and fellow smuggler Lando Calrissian, respectively.

All three leads endured grueling testing sessions for the standalone pic. The tests date back to the beginning of the year when thousands of actors first began meeting and reading for the role of the title character that Ehrenreich eventually nabbed.

“Selma” and “Creed” star Tessa Thompson, “Power Rangers” actress Naomi Scott, and Zoe Kravitz read for the female lead in October. Another group, which included Clarke, “Dope’s” Kiersey Clemons, fellow “Thrones” actress Jessica Henwick, and “Emerald City” star Adria Arjona tested in London. Clarke ultimately landed the role.

Execs and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who are also penning the script, had tested another group in September, but decided on one more round after struggling to make their choice.

The movie will be set prior to “Star Wars: A New Hope,” like the other upcoming “Star Wars” standalone project, “Rogue One,” which hits theaters on Dec. 16. Read More

It’s Official: HBO Confirms ‘Game Of Thrones’ Will End After Eight Seasons

After a few months of speculation, HBO has confirmed it: Season 8 of Game of Thrones will be the series’ final season.

Casey Bloys, HBO’s new programming president, confirmed it Saturday at the Television Critics Association summer tour to members of the press. Speaking with the press, Bloys revealed it has been the plan for a while:

“Yes, I think [the showrunners, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff] have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do. If I could get them to do more, I would take 10 seasons but we want to take their lead with what they could do and what the best version of the show is.”

However, Bloys left the door open about the possibility of a potential spinoff when the question was raised:

“We’ve talked about it. It’s not something I’m opposed to but it has to make sense creatively. I’m not sure the guys can wrap their heads around it when they are about to start production. We’re open to it; the guys aren’t opposed to it but there’s no concrete plans right now.”

It’s impossible to think that HBO wouldn’t be giving serious thought to a spinoff. While the company has always been committed to quality stories, it’s previously shown a willingness to continue on with a popular property after its initial end, such as giving the green light to a second season of True Detective, a decision that was met with mixed results. But Game of Thrones is a different beast. Not the initially one-off season of True Detective, Thrones has been HBO’s longest-running and most successful series ever. Season 6 drew an average of 25 million viewers per episode, and, rather than wane as many shows do as they draw nearer to a close, Game of Thrones‘ ratings have only increased every year. After last season’s finale set a series record of 8.1 million live plus same day viewers, the finale of Season 6 shattered even that number at 8.9 million viewers. [Source]
